Field Notes from the Anthropocene

An anthropologist’s field notes from the ecotones

Anthropos, the human.

Cosmos, the living whole.

This site is a record of the edges, where they meet and where they come apart. I’m an anthropologist who listens at those edges: to forests and floodplains, to women’s stories and wolves’ stories, to the systems that decide who counts as a person and who doesn’t get a voice. What I find, I write down, I speak, I photograph. These are my field notes.

Three ways in ↓

Essays from the edges. On wolves and women, lichen and lineage, the grief of a changing world and the kinships that hold it together.

Dispatches

Small notes in real time. The sound of the wind, the creek under ice, photographs of frost, and a few words about whatever is on my mind today.

Voice Notes

Who I am, how I listen to the world, and the women who raised me without knowing it.
